Sometimes life can get pretty stressful, we have all been there. For me, it seems like stress comes right when I’ve been on track, crushing goals and everything seems to be going great! Then life slaps me in the face and goes “Haha no, here’s some stress.”
Seriously though, when you are in the thick of stress it can be hard to see the bright side. Those feelings of anxiety and depression creep up on you and consume your mind. It can be a challenge to get through your day let alone try to stick to a schedule, take care of kids, focus at work, etc.
So, as someone who has been where you are, (constantly) I’ve put together a list of the things I’ve found to ease my stress and help me relax when life gets hectic. I hope you find at least one of these things to be helpful! Stick around where I share my secret formula for total relaxation in tip #4.

- Prioritize getting in a 10 minute walk
I know it seems silly and you’re probably asking yourself “Is she for real? I don’t have time for that!”
I know it seems unachievable because you are overwhelmed, but you’d be surprised how much clarity you can find on a short 10-minute walk. I like to take my walk close to when the sun sets. It’s calming to walk around the neighborhood as people are just getting home, winding down for the night, and eating dinner. It’s a very relaxing time vs going on a walk in the morning/afternoon with all the hustle and bustle. Just give it one try and see how you feel!
2. Meditation
Not everyone can find calmness in meditation and that’s okay if you aren’t one of those people but don’t knock it til you try it! Another great option is guided prayer meditation. I plan on making meditation and guided prayer meditation videos for youtube soon, so stay tuned! Meditation can be as long or as short as you want. It’s a great way to sit still for a few moments and ground yourself, it’s especially great when you’re feeling heavy from all the stress weighing you down.
4 Proven benefits of meditation:
- relieve stress
- controls anxiety
- enhances self-awareness
- mental calmness
3. Diffuse Calming oils
I love oil diffusing. I could write a whole blog post about it and I might just do that later! There’s something magical about it, truly. My favorite calming essential oils are:
Lavender, sandalwood, orange, clary sage, lemon, chamomile
Cliganic is one of my favorite brands because of its amazing quality and great price!
4. Hot bath/ Hot Shower
My personal favorite when I’m feeling stressed is a nice hot bath with bath salts. But currently, I live in an apartment that only has a shower. So for now, my only option is a relaxing hot shower with shower steamers. Still amazing but I miss my baths!
If you’re like me and bathless but still want a spa experience- then give shower steamers a try. Here’s a good quality- essential oil-infused shower steamer.
Now, to get all the calming effects try my secret formula for total relaxation!
A hot bath with bath salts, guided meditation while diffusing essential oils
Total game changer!
5. Organize something
This one might not work for every situation but if it’s a kind of stress that you need something to distract yourself from thinking about whats going on around you- maybe try organizing something. For example- your pantry, bathroom cabinet, closet, etc
Sometimes it’s nice to feel a sense of control when your life is spiraling out of control.
Well, that pretty much sums up everything I do to cope with stress. Try to remember this is just a phase. It’s difficult now but trust me there is a rainbow at the end of the storm. Hang in there and ride it out. If you try any of these ideas and they work let me know! Also, if you have any tips or tricks of your own that help you relax I’d love to know so I can try it out myself! Until next time, thank you for taking the time to read this through. 🙂
